Voraussetzungen

This course is for students of the Smart City Solutions Master Programme who have completed 2 semesters of studies and have registered for Master Thesis in WiSe 2021/22 or will register in SoSe 2022.

Leistungsnachweis

Students have completed 2 semesters of courses in Smart City Solutions Master Programme.

Lerninhalte

This course offers consultations related to motivation, dealing with obstacles and sharing high moments of thesis research and writing.  This is part of your fulfillment of credit points (2CP) according the SPO (Studienprüfungsordnung) towards the completion of the degree. Attendance and participation is compulsory.

 

For each session we will meet as a group and you will prepare a 5-15 minute report on the status of your MT research and writing.

Saturday 11 September 9:45 – 17:00:

Deliverable: Introduction to your topic and supervisors. Next Steps. (Literature review, exploratory research, question list for supervisors).

Saturday 25 September 14:00  – 17:00:

Deliverable: Report on tasks completed, (e.g. Literature review & state of the art) work in progress (e.g research design, questionnaire design, compilation of list of interviewees) and next steps.

Saturday 30 October 14:00  – 19:00

Deliverable: Report on tasks completed, (e.g. research design, questionnaire design, invited/conducted of interviewees, test set of measured data, etc.) work in progress (e.g. data /information analysis) and next steps.

Saturday 20 November 14:00  – 17:00

Deliverable: Report on tasks completed, (e.g. data /information analysis) work in progress (e.g. discussion of results, recommendations) and next steps.

Saturday 8 January 9:45 – 17:00

Deliverable: Report on tasks completed, (e.g. discussion of results, recommendations) work in progress (final editing, graphs, layout of MT ) and next steps (e.g. presentation slides & script).

 

Please note: This course's purpose is to guide you trough thesis preparation in terms of timing and structure. Unless your thesis is part of a research group, research and writing is a lonely affair. The nature of the course is group discussion. Meeting your peers will help you to compare your pacing, depth, and quality of your efforts. Your primary and secondary supervisors will advise on research specific content, methodology, and research design. It is the responsibiltiy of the master student to arrange and prepare for consultation with the supervisors timely.
